Meghalaya revises Minimum Wages

Scope and Applicability

• Revised minimum wage rates for 29 scheduled employments, covering sectors such as:

  • Agriculture, construction, public transport, stone crushing, weaving, tailoring, hotels and restaurants, registered factories, domestic workers, and more.

Revised Minimum Wage Rates (Effective from 1st April 2025)

Key Provisions

• Wages include rest day pay and exclude other concessions.

• Existing working hours: 8 hours/day, 48 hours/week.

• Overtime rate: Double the ordinary rate of wages.

• VDA to be revised every 6 months based on CPI.

• Definitions clarify distinctions between unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly-skilled categories.

• Rounded-off VDA components.

• Supersedes earlier notification dated 14.01.2025.
