From 1st August 2025, the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has mandated that all new UAN (Universal Account Number) generation and activation must be conducted exclusively via the UMANG app using Aadhaar-based Face Authentication Technology (FAT), ensuring error-free processing, while allowing exceptions for International Workers and citizens of Nepal and Bhutan; this directive, approved by the CPFC, continues previous measures outlined in April and provides a detailed user manual for implementation.
